Carried by the Current I explores movement, connection and the experience of being swept forward by forces both within and beyond our control.
Sweeping passages of blue, turquoise and white move around a warm ochre form that becomes an anchor within the composition. Smaller marks emerge and disappear through the layers, creating moments of energy, interruption and discovery within the flow.
Created intuitively through layered paint, gestural mark-making and partially obscured forms, the work invites the viewer to find their own associations within the abstraction. There is a sense of movement without a predetermined destination — a reflection on what we carry with us, what we encounter along the way, and the currents that sometimes take us somewhere unexpected.
Created as a companion to Carried by the Current II, this original work may be collected individually or together as a pair.
