Echo of Compassion explores compassion not as a passive feeling, but as something that moves between us — a current that reaches, carries and holds.
Sweeping lines travel through a turbulent field of phthalo green, magenta and broken white, evoking currents, movement and spray. Within them, collaged hearts appear and disappear. Some remain recognisable; others are fragmented, partially obscured or almost absorbed into the surrounding surface.
The floral imagery within the hearts echoes Compassion Reimagined, while the flowing structure recalls the earlier Currents of Compassion. Brought together here, these elements become less literal: hearts are caught within the movement, carried through it and changed by it.
Viewed from a distance, the work is dominated by its large, looping currents and sense of movement. Only on approaching do the hearts and their fragments gradually reveal themselves.
Echo of Compassion reflects on the vulnerability within compassion — the willingness to encounter what is hurt or incomplete, and to hold it without needing to make it whole.
