Finding stillness amid movement and change.
A delicate pale-pink water lily opens against a richly layered background of turquoise and indigo. Above it, a translucent dragonfly moves through the expansive blue, almost disappearing into its surroundings.
Both the water lily and dragonfly came from photographs I took during a visit to Almería, Spain. Although captured as separate moments, I was drawn to bringing them together — the quiet presence of the flower contrasting with the fleeting movement of the dragonfly.
For me, Equanimity is not about the absence of disturbance, but the ability to remain centred within it.
The water lily represents serenity, resilience and the capacity to flourish despite changing circumstances. The dragonfly introduces movement, transformation and the transient nature of experience. Neither exists in a perfectly still world, yet together they create a sense of harmony.
Beneath them, transparent layers of indigo and turquoise reveal irregular marks, shifting colours and hidden depths. The background remains subtly restless, while the flower offers a point of quiet composure.
Part of my Intimate Story Pieces collection, Equanimity is an invitation to pause and reflect on a simple but sometimes difficult truth: inner peace does not require everything around us to be peaceful.
