Where Little Song in Ember Phase lingers in the warmth of an inner ember, Little Song in Turquoise Phase steps into a cooler, more spacious light. In this work, ANnew softens the palette into turquoise, blue, and pale neutral tones, letting fragments of musical notation, script, and subtle pattern float through the composition like thoughts that have finally risen to the surface.

Ember-warm touches still appear, but they are gentler—traces rather than blaze—woven among looping black lines and delicate marks that move like a calm, steady rhythm. Soft veils and layered textures create a sense of depth and breath, as if there is more air around the feeling now, more room to listen. The music is still the same, but its tempo has changed: less urgent, more reflective.

True to my symbolic realism, colour and mark-making are never arbitrary. The turquoise suggests clarity, calm, and emotional integration; the remaining warm notes remember where the feeling began. Together, they speak to the way our inner “little songs” can evolve—from raw ember to something more spacious and considered—without losing their original truth.

Designed as a companion to Little Song in Ember Phase within the Embers and Turquoise collection, this piece completes the emotional arc: two phases of the same song, inviting viewers to recognise both their glowing intensity and their quieter, clearer voice.
