Transformation explores change not as a single moment, but as an unfolding process — one that asks us to shed, adapt and emerge altered by what we have experienced.
A lotus rises from the water, long associated with renewal and transformation through its emergence from darkness towards the light. Moving through the composition is the form of a tree snake, another ancient symbol of transformation through the shedding of its skin. Its presence is deliberately incomplete, allowing the body to become part of the movement and rhythm of the painting rather than simply an observed creature.
Together, lotus and snake offer different expressions of transformation: one through emergence and growth, the other through shedding and renewal. Subtle symbolic details are woven into the work, inviting discovery beyond the first viewing.
Part of BLOOM – Human Virtues in Flower, Transformation reflects on the continual nature of becoming — how we carry what has shaped us, release what no longer serves us, and emerge changed.
